Why MMA gloves are not small boxing gloves
An MMA glove is open-palm and light because you have to grip, frame, post and submit while wearing it. That design leaves far less padding across the knuckles than a boxing glove — which is the point, and also the limit. They are right for grappling, clinch work and light technical striking, and wrong for hard sparring rounds, where a boxing glove is simply the safer tool.

Can I spar in MMA gloves?
