Muay Thai Shin Guards in Mauritius

2 productsClear filters

Shin guards with the foot pad built in, for Muay Thai, kickboxing and MMA, stocked at Nova Sports in Port Louis.

Choosing shin guards for Muay Thai

Shin guards take more punishment than anything else you own, because every checked kick is shin against shin. Both of ours join the shin plate to an instep pad, so the top of the foot is covered on every kick instead of left bare, and both close with elastic hook-and-loop straps behind the calf. They come in black or red and are sold as a pair.

Size them by your height and leg length rather than your shoe size: the plate should run from just below the knee to the top of the foot without digging into either. You do not need them for your first classes, but you will as soon as you start checking kicks with a partner. Our Muay Thai beginner guide covers what else to buy, the Muay Thai range has the shorts, pads and gloves, and our guide to protective gear explains when each piece becomes necessary.

Do I need shin guards for Muay Thai?

Not for your first classes, but as soon as you check kicks or spar with a partner. Most gyms will not let you spar without them.

How should Muay Thai shin guards fit?

The plate should cover from just below the knee to the top of the foot and stay put when you kick. Size by height and leg length, not shoe size; message us on WhatsApp and we will talk it through.

Can I use these shin guards for MMA?

Yes. The foot pad is built in and the straps hold them in place, which suits MMA and kickboxing sparring. Check what your gym requires.
