Choosing a punching bag
Start with the heavy bag. It comes filled, with a four-point chain and swivel, in five heights: 60, 80, 100, 120 and 150 cm. A shorter bag hangs higher and suits punching; a longer bag reaches low enough for knees and low kicks, which is what Muay Thai and MMA training needs. Measure the drop from your fixing point to the floor before you choose, and leave room for the chain.
Hang it from a structural joist or beam, a bracket on a solid wall, or a proper stand, never from a false ceiling or plasterboard alone. A speed bag is a different tool: it builds timing, rhythm and hand speed rather than power, and it needs a platform and a swivel.
